Our therapeutic boarding school is a faith-based residential school focused on character maturity and family restoration. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment where struggling adolescents take on constructive life attitudes, flourish in their faith, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
New Horizons Boys Ranch works hard to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Teens attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Amarillo, Texas, and often find it beneficial to grow in a new environment separate from local peer groups.
Every boy begins by establishing a relationship with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and many other positive character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can tackle the destructive choices that had held him or her back. We also offer individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any successful education, and we communicate this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration takes place only with the total commitment of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We support frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a faith-based youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will serve your child into adulthood. Please consider looking beyond Amarillo, Texas to see how our caring program can bring about restoration in your family.
