NHBR is a Christian residential school focused on character growth and family renewal. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere where troubled adolescents adopt constructive life attitudes, grow in their belief, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
New Horizons Boys Ranch works hard to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Aurora, Colorado, and often find it valuable to grow in a new environment separate from local peer groups.
Every child begins by establishing a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores foster a solid work ethic and numerous other positive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the child can tackle the conflicts that had held him or her back. We also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration occurs only with the close involvement of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a faith-based program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will be profitable for your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking outside of Aurora, Colorado to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
