New Horizons Boys Ranch is a Christian residential program with a mission for character growth and family restoration. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment where troubled adolescents take on better life attitudes, flourish in their faith, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with inviting recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Our school endeavors to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Ballwin, Missouri, and often find it advantageous to experience a new environment away from local peer groups.
Each child begins by building a relationship with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and many other desirable character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can work through the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. We also offer individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Genuine family restoration takes place only with the close involvement of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a faith-based program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will serve your child all of his or her life. Please think about looking outside of Ballwin, Missouri to see how our caring program can lead to restoration in your family.
