New Horizons Boys Ranch is a faith-based residential program with a heart for character maturity and family restoration. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere where struggling adolescents adopt better life attitudes, grow in their faith, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
New Horizons Boys Ranch works hard to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Teens arrive at New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Berkeley, California, and often find it constructive to grow in a new environment separate from local peer groups.
Each child begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and numerous other desirable character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the teen can work through the destructive choices that had held him or her back. We also provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any worthwhile education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration takes place only with the total commitment of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. We assist with frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a faith-based youth ranch that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will benefit your child all of his or her life. Please consider looking outside of Berkeley, California to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
