Our therapeutic boarding school is a faith-based residential school focused on character maturity and family unity. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere in which struggling adolescents take on constructive life attitudes, grow in their faith, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and conquer their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Our school strives to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Beverly Hills, California, and often find it advantageous to experience a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Every boy begins by forming a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and numerous other desirable character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the child can tackle the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. We also offer individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any productive education, and we communicate this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration takes place only with the total commitment of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. We support frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a faith-based youth ranch that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will be profitable for your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking outside of Beverly Hills, California to see how our caring program can lead to restoration in your family.
