New Horizons Boys Ranch is a Christian residential program with a mission for character development and family restoration. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which struggling adolescents develop better life attitudes, flourish in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Our school works hard to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Chicago, Illinois, and often find it constructive to grow in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Every child begins by forming trust with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores build a strong work ethic and numerous other attractive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the child can work through the conflicts that had held him or her back. We also offer individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any worthwhile education, and we communicate this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Genuine family restoration happens only with the total commitment of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We assist with frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
NHBR is a Christ-centered youth ranch that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will serve your child into adulthood. Please think about looking beyond Chicago, Illinois to see how our caring program can bring about restoration in your family.
