New Horizons Boys Ranch is a faith-based residential school with a heart for character growth and family unity. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which troubled adolescents adopt more positive life attitudes, grow in their faith, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
New Horizons Boys Ranch endeavors to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents arrive at New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Fort Collins, Colorado, and often find it advantageous to spend time in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Each boy begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores foster a strong work ethic and countless other desirable character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the child can overcome the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. We also provide individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any worthwhile education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration happens only with the total commitment of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We support frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a faith-based program that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will serve your child all of his or her life. Please consider looking beyond Fort Collins, Colorado to see how our caring program can lead to restoration in your family.
