NHBR is a Christian residential school with a heart for character development and family restoration. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere in which struggling adolescents adopt better life attitudes, flourish in their belief, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
New Horizons Boys Ranch works hard to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Fremont, California, and often find it advantageous to experience a new environment away from local peer groups.
Every teen begins by forming trust with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and many other attractive character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the child can work through the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. We also use individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any worthwhile education, and we communicate this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the full cooperation of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. We assist with frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
NHBR is a Christ-centered youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will benefit your child all of his or her life. Please consider looking beyond Fremont, California to see how our caring program can lead to restoration in your family.
