NHBR is a faith-based residential program with a mission for character growth and family unity. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which troubled adolescents adopt constructive life attitudes, flourish in their faith, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
New Horizons Boys Ranch strives to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Little Rock, Arkansas, and often find it valuable to grow in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Every boy begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores contribute to a solid work ethic and many other attractive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can tackle the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. We also offer individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Genuine family restoration happens only with the total commitment of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We support frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
NHBR is a Christ-centered youth ranch that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will benefit your child all of his or her life.
