Our therapeutic boarding school is a Christian residential program with a mission for character development and family renewal. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment where troubled adolescents take on more positive life attitudes, flourish in their faith, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Our school endeavors to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents arrive at New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and often find it advantageous to grow in a new environment separate from local peer groups.
Each child begins by building trust with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores foster a strong work ethic and many other desirable character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can overcome the conflicts that had held him or her back. We also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Genuine family restoration occurs only with the close involvement of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. We assist with frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a Christ-centered program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will serve your child for the rest of his or her life. Please think about looking beyond Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to see how our caring program can bring about restoration in your family.
