New Horizons Boys Ranch is a Christian residential program focused on character maturity and family restoration. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere where struggling adolescents develop more positive life attitudes, flourish in their belief, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Our school strives to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Pueblo, Colorado, and often find it advantageous to experience a new environment separate from local peer groups.
Every adolescent begins by establishing a relationship with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and numerous other attractive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the child can overcome the destructive choices that had held him or her back. We also provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Genuine family restoration occurs only with the full cooperation of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
