New Horizons Boys Ranch is a faith-based residential school focused on character growth and family renewal. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which struggling adolescents adopt constructive life attitudes, flourish in their faith, find a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with inviting recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Our school works hard to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Saint Paul, Minnesota, and often find it valuable to spend time in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Each child begins by forming trust with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores contribute to a solid work ethic and many other attractive character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the teen can tackle the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. We also provide individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Students at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any worthwhile education, and we communicate this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration takes place only with the total commitment of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a Christ-centered program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will benefit your child all of his or her life. Please consider looking outside of Saint Paul, Minnesota to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
