NHBR is a Christian residential program with a heart for character growth and family unity. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment where troubled adolescents adopt better life attitudes, flourish in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
New Horizons Boys Ranch works hard to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Teens attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from around the country, including from San Bernardino, California, and often find it valuable to spend time in a new environment separate from local peer groups.
Each child begins by building a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores contribute to a solid work ethic and numerous other attractive character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can work through the conflicts that had held him or her back. We also use individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any worthwhile education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration happens only with the total commitment of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. We assist with frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a Christ-centered youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will serve your child for the rest of his or her life. Please think about looking outside of San Bernardino, California to see how our caring program can lead to restoration in your family.
