Our therapeutic boarding school is a Christian residential school focused on character maturity and family unity. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment where troubled adolescents adopt better life attitudes, flourish in their faith, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with inviting recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
New Horizons Boys Ranch endeavors to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Santa Clara, California, and often find it constructive to spend time in a new environment away from local peer groups.
Each adolescent begins by building trust with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores contribute to a strong work ethic and numerous other positive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the teen can overcome the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. We also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Students at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any worthwhile education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration takes place only with the close involvement of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. We support frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a Christ-centered youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will be profitable for your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking beyond Santa Clara, California to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
