NHBR is a Christian residential school with a heart for character development and family unity. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere where troubled adolescents develop constructive life attitudes, flourish in their belief, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Our school strives to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents arrive at New Horizons Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Spokane, Washington, and often find it valuable to grow in a new environment separate from local peer groups.
Every child begins by forming trust with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores foster a strong work ethic and numerous other attractive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the child can overcome the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. We also provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any worthwhile education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the total commitment of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a Christ-centered youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will serve your child all of his or her life. Please consider looking beyond Spokane, Washington to see how our caring program can bring about restoration in your family.
