Our therapeutic boarding school is a Christian residential school focused on character maturity and family restoration. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere where troubled adolescents take on more positive life attitudes, grow in their faith, find a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Our school strives to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from St. Louis, Missouri, and often find it advantageous to spend time in a new environment separate from local peer groups.
Every adolescent begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and many other attractive character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the teen can tackle the conflicts that had held him or her back. We also provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any worthwhile education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration happens only with the full cooperation of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a faith-based program that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will benefit your child for the rest of his or her life. Please think about looking outside of St. Louis, Missouri to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
