New Horizons Boys Ranch is a faith-based residential school focused on character development and family unity. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment where troubled adolescents take on better life attitudes, flourish in their belief, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
A therapeutic boarding school that endeavors to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Ohio, and often find it constructive to spend time in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Every child begins by establishing a relationship with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and many other desirable character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can work through the destructive choices that had held him or her back. We also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration happens only with the close involvement of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. We support frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
NHBR is a Christ-centered program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will benefit your child all of his or her life. Please consider looking beyond Ohio to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
