Our school works hard to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Bozeman, Montana, and often find it advantageous to experience a new environment separate from local peer groups.
NHBR is a faith-based residential program focused on character development and family renewal. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment where troubled adolescents adopt constructive life attitudes, flourish in their faith, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each child begins by building trust with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores foster a strong work ethic and numerous other positive character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the child can work through the conflicts that had held him or her back. We also provide individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any successful education, and we communicate this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration occurs only with the close involvement of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
NHBR is a Christ-centered program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will be profitable for your child for the rest of his or her life. Please think about looking outside of Bozeman, Montana to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
