Our school endeavors to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Bremerton, Washington, and often find it advantageous to grow in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
NHBR is a faith-based residential program focused on character maturity and family unity. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment where troubled adolescents develop more positive life attitudes, grow in their belief, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and conquer their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every boy begins by forming a relationship with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores foster a strong work ethic and countless other positive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the teen can tackle the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. We also use individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any worthwhile education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Genuine family restoration takes place only with the full cooperation of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
NHBR is a faith-based program that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will be profitable for your child all of his or her life. Please think about looking beyond Bremerton, Washington to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
