New Horizons Boys Ranch strives to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Burleson, Texas, and often find it advantageous to spend time in a new environment away from local peer groups.
NHBR is a faith-based residential program focused on character development and family renewal. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere in which struggling adolescents adopt more positive life attitudes, grow in their faith, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every adolescent begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores contribute to a solid work ethic and many other attractive character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the teen can overcome the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. We also provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any worthwhile education, and we communicate this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration happens only with the total commitment of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a faith-based youth ranch that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will benefit your child for the rest of his or her life. Please think about looking outside of Burleson, Texas to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
