Our school strives to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Cheyenne, Wyoming, and often find it valuable to spend time in a new environment away from local peer groups.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a faith-based residential program with a heart for character growth and family restoration. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere in which troubled adolescents take on more positive life attitudes, grow in their faith, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with inviting recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each child begins by establishing a relationship with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores contribute to a strong work ethic and numerous other attractive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the child can work through the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. We also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any worthwhile education, and we communicate this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Genuine family restoration occurs only with the full cooperation of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. We assist with frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a faith-based program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will be profitable for your child all of his or her life. Please think about looking outside of Cheyenne, Wyoming to see how our caring program can lead to restoration in your family.
