Our school endeavors to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Teens arrive at New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Cleveland, Ohio, and often find it valuable to spend time in a new environment away from local peer groups.
New Horizons Boys Ranch is a faith-based residential program with a mission for character growth and family restoration. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere in which troubled adolescents adopt more positive life attitudes, grow in their faith, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each teen begins by forming a relationship with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores build a strong work ethic and numerous other attractive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can overcome the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. We also use individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any successful education, and we communicate this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration takes place only with the full cooperation of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. We assist with frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
NHBR is a faith-based program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will serve your child all of his or her life. Please think about looking beyond Cleveland, Ohio to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
