New Horizons Boys Ranch endeavors to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Teens attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Colorado Springs, Colorado, and often find it beneficial to spend time in a new environment away from local peer groups.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a Christian residential school with a heart for character growth and family renewal. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere in which struggling adolescents take on more positive life attitudes, grow in their belief, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and conquer their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every teen begins by building a relationship with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and numerous other attractive character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the teen can work through the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. We also provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any productive education, and we communicate this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration takes place only with the close involvement of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. We assist with frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
NHBR is a faith-based youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will be profitable for your child into adulthood.
