Our school strives to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Teens arrive at New Horizons Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Denver, Colorado, and often find it beneficial to grow in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a faith-based residential program with a mission for character growth and family unity. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which troubled adolescents take on constructive life attitudes, flourish in their belief, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and conquer their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every teen begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores foster a solid work ethic and countless other desirable character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can tackle the destructive choices that had held him or her back. We also offer individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any productive education, and we communicate this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration occurs only with the total commitment of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. We support frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a faith-based youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will be profitable for your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking outside of Denver, Colorado to see how our caring program can bring about restoration in your family.
