Our school works hard to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Teens arrive at New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Englewood, Colorado, and often find it valuable to experience a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a Christian residential program focused on character development and family renewal. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which troubled adolescents develop more positive life attitudes, flourish in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with inviting recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each boy begins by forming a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores foster a solid work ethic and countless other desirable character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can work through the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. We also provide individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any worthwhile education, and we communicate this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the close involvement of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We assist with frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
NHBR is a Christ-centered program that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will benefit your child all of his or her life. Please consider looking outside of Englewood, Colorado to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
