New Horizons Boys Ranch endeavors to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Teens attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Fort Worth, Texas, and often find it beneficial to grow in a new environment away from local peer groups.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a Christian residential school focused on character maturity and family renewal. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere where struggling adolescents take on more positive life attitudes, grow in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each teen begins by building a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores build a strong work ethic and many other attractive character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the teen can tackle the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. We also offer individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Students at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any productive education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Genuine family restoration occurs only with the total commitment of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. We support frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
NHBR is a faith-based program that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will serve your child into adulthood. Please consider looking outside of Fort Worth, Texas to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
