New Horizons Boys Ranch strives to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Teens attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Fresno, California, and often find it constructive to experience a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a Christian residential program with a heart for character development and family unity. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment where troubled adolescents adopt constructive life attitudes, grow in their faith, find a safe and nurturing environment, and conquer their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with inviting recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every adolescent begins by establishing a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores foster a strong work ethic and countless other positive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can overcome the destructive choices that had held him or her back. We also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any worthwhile education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration takes place only with the total commitment of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We support frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a faith-based program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will benefit your child all of his or her life. Please think about looking outside of Fresno, California to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
