New Horizons Boys Ranch strives to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Teens come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Gilbert, Arizona, and often find it constructive to experience a new environment detached from local peer groups.
NHBR is a faith-based residential program with a mission for character maturity and family unity. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment where struggling adolescents take on constructive life attitudes, grow in their faith, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each teen begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores contribute to a strong work ethic and numerous other attractive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can overcome the destructive choices that had held him or her back. We also provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Genuine family restoration occurs only with the total commitment of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We assist with frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a Christ-centered program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will benefit your child all of his or her life. Please think about looking outside of Gilbert, Arizona to see how our caring program can bring about restoration in your family.
