New Horizons Boys Ranch works hard to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Hastings, Nebraska, and often find it valuable to spend time in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
New Horizons Boys Ranch is a Christian residential program with a heart for character development and family restoration. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment where troubled adolescents develop more positive life attitudes, grow in their faith, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and conquer their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every adolescent begins by forming trust with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores foster a solid work ethic and numerous other desirable character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the teen can tackle the conflicts that had held him or her back. We also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any successful education, and we communicate this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the close involvement of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a Christ-centered youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will serve your child for the rest of his or her life. Please think about looking outside of Hastings, Nebraska to see how our caring program can bring about restoration in your family.
