Our school works hard to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Teens come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Hopkins, Minnesota, and often find it beneficial to experience a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a faith-based residential program focused on character maturity and family renewal. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere where troubled adolescents adopt constructive life attitudes, grow in their belief, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every child begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores foster a strong work ethic and many other positive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the child can work through the destructive choices that had held him or her back. We also provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any productive education, and we communicate this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the total commitment of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We support frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a faith-based youth ranch that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will serve your child into adulthood. Please think about looking beyond Hopkins, Minnesota to see how our caring program can lead to restoration in your family.
