Our school strives to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Teens attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Inglewood, California, and often find it advantageous to grow in a new environment away from local peer groups.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a faith-based residential school with a heart for character development and family renewal. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which struggling adolescents adopt better life attitudes, grow in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and conquer their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with inviting recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every adolescent begins by establishing a relationship with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores contribute to a strong work ethic and numerous other attractive character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can work through the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. We also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any productive education, and we communicate this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the close involvement of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. We assist with frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a Christ-centered program that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will benefit your child for the rest of his or her life. Please think about looking outside of Inglewood, California to see how our caring program can lead to restoration in your family.
