New Horizons Boys Ranch works hard to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Teens attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Lansing, Michigan, and often find it beneficial to grow in a new environment separate from local peer groups.
New Horizons Boys Ranch is a faith-based residential school with a heart for character maturity and family restoration. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment where struggling adolescents take on more positive life attitudes, flourish in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every boy begins by forming a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores contribute to a strong work ethic and numerous other positive character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the child can work through the conflicts that had held him or her back. We also offer individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any successful education, and we communicate this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration takes place only with the full cooperation of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a Christ-centered youth ranch that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will be profitable for your child all of his or her life. Please consider looking beyond Lansing, Michigan to see how our caring program can bring about restoration in your family.
