Our school works hard to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Teens come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Longview, Washington, and often find it advantageous to grow in a new environment away from local peer groups.
NHBR is a faith-based residential program focused on character maturity and family unity. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere where troubled adolescents adopt constructive life attitudes, grow in their faith, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each child begins by building a relationship with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores foster a solid work ethic and countless other attractive character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the teen can tackle the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. We also provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration takes place only with the total commitment of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a faith-based youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will be profitable for your child into adulthood. Please consider looking outside of Longview, Washington to see how our caring program can lead to restoration in your family.
