New Horizons Boys Ranch strives to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Maple Valley, Washington, and often find it advantageous to grow in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a faith-based residential school with a heart for character maturity and family renewal. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere where struggling adolescents adopt constructive life attitudes, grow in their faith, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with inviting recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every adolescent begins by forming trust with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and numerous other desirable character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the teen can overcome the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. We also provide individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any successful education, and we communicate this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Genuine family restoration takes place only with the close involvement of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. We assist with frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
NHBR is a faith-based youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life.
