Our school works hard to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Olympia, Washington, and often find it valuable to spend time in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
NHBR is a Christian residential program focused on character development and family restoration. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere in which struggling adolescents develop better life attitudes, flourish in their belief, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every teen begins by forming a relationship with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores foster a strong work ethic and many other positive character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can tackle the destructive choices that had held him or her back. We also offer individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any productive education, and we communicate this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration takes place only with the full cooperation of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. We support frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a faith-based youth ranch that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will be profitable for your child into adulthood. Please think about looking beyond Olympia, Washington to see how our caring program can lead to restoration in your family.
