Our school works hard to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Teens attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Provo, Utah, and often find it beneficial to spend time in a new environment separate from local peer groups.
New Horizons Boys Ranch is a faith-based residential program focused on character growth and family unity. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere in which struggling adolescents take on constructive life attitudes, flourish in their faith, find a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with inviting recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each adolescent begins by building trust with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and many other attractive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the teen can overcome the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. We also provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the close involvement of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
NHBR is a Christ-centered program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will be profitable for your child all of his or her life. Please think about looking beyond Provo, Utah to see how our caring program can lead to restoration in your family.
