Our school strives to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Teens attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Riverside, California, and often find it beneficial to spend time in a new environment away from local peer groups.
New Horizons Boys Ranch is a faith-based residential school focused on character development and family unity. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment where struggling adolescents take on constructive life attitudes, grow in their belief, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every adolescent begins by building a relationship with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores build a strong work ethic and many other positive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the child can tackle the conflicts that had held him or her back. We also provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any worthwhile education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the total commitment of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
NHBR is a Christ-centered youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will benefit your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking beyond Riverside, California to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
