New Horizons Boys Ranch strives to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Teens come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Rochester, Minnesota, and often find it beneficial to spend time in a new environment away from local peer groups.
New Horizons Boys Ranch is a faith-based residential school with a heart for character growth and family renewal. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which troubled adolescents adopt constructive life attitudes, grow in their faith, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every teen begins by forming a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores contribute to a solid work ethic and countless other desirable character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can tackle the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. We also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Students at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Genuine family restoration happens only with the close involvement of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We assist with frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a faith-based youth ranch that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will serve your child into adulthood. Please think about looking beyond Rochester, Minnesota to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
