New Horizons Boys Ranch works hard to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents arrive at New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Sacramento, California, and often find it beneficial to experience a new environment away from local peer groups.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a Christian residential school with a heart for character growth and family unity. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which struggling adolescents develop better life attitudes, grow in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with inviting recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every child begins by building trust with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores build a strong work ethic and countless other attractive character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can tackle the destructive choices that had held him or her back. We also provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Students at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any productive education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration occurs only with the full cooperation of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a Christ-centered program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will benefit your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking beyond Sacramento, California to see how our caring program can lead to restoration in your family.
