New Horizons Boys Ranch endeavors to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Teens arrive at New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Saint George, Utah, and often find it advantageous to spend time in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a Christian residential program with a mission for character growth and family renewal. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere where struggling adolescents develop constructive life attitudes, grow in their faith, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with inviting recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every teen begins by forming trust with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and many other desirable character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can tackle the destructive choices that had held him or her back. We also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Students at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any productive education, and we communicate this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration happens only with the full cooperation of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. We support frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
NHBR is a Christ-centered program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will benefit your child into adulthood. Please consider looking outside of Saint George, Utah to see how our caring program can bring about restoration in your family.
