New Horizons Boys Ranch works hard to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Teens attend New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the nation, including from Saint Paul, Minnesota, and often find it advantageous to spend time in a new environment separate from local peer groups.
New Horizons Boys Ranch is a faith-based residential program with a mission for character development and family unity. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment where struggling adolescents develop better life attitudes, grow in their faith, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with inviting recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each teen begins by forming a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores build a strong work ethic and many other positive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the child can overcome the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. We also provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Students at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any successful education, and we communicate this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the close involvement of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We support frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a Christ-centered program that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will serve your child into adulthood. Please consider looking outside of Saint Paul, Minnesota to see how our caring program can bring about restoration in your family.
