New Horizons Boys Ranch strives to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Teens come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from San Bernardino, California, and often find it constructive to grow in a new environment away from local peer groups.
NHBR is a faith-based residential school focused on character growth and family restoration. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which troubled adolescents develop constructive life attitudes, flourish in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each child begins by forming a relationship with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores contribute to a strong work ethic and countless other desirable character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the child can overcome the destructive choices that had held him or her back. We also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the total commitment of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. We support frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a Christ-centered youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will serve your child all of his or her life. Please consider looking outside of San Bernardino, California to see how our caring program can bring about restoration in your family.
