Our school works hard to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Tucson, Arizona, and often find it advantageous to spend time in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a Christian residential program with a heart for character growth and family unity. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment where struggling adolescents adopt constructive life attitudes, flourish in their faith, find a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our gorgeous mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each boy begins by building a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores contribute to a solid work ethic and countless other positive character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can overcome the destructive choices that had held him or her back. We also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any worthwhile education, and we communicate this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the close involvement of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. We assist with frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a Christ-centered youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we believe in values and character traits that will serve your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking outside of Tucson, Arizona to see how our caring program can bring about restoration in your family.
