Our school strives to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Teens arrive at New Horizons Boys Ranch from across the country, including from Vancouver, Washington, and often find it beneficial to grow in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
NHBR is a Christian residential school with a mission for character maturity and family renewal. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like environment where troubled adolescents take on more positive life attitudes, grow in their faith, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We balance hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each adolescent begins by forming a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores foster a strong work ethic and countless other attractive character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the child can work through the conflicts that had held him or her back. We also offer individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, permitting them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any productive education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the total commitment of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We facilitate frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
NHBR is a Christ-centered youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will serve your child into adulthood. Please consider looking outside of Vancouver, Washington to see how our caring program can bring restoration to your family.
