New Horizons Boys Ranch works hard to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Teens arrive at New Horizons Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Walla Walla, Washington, and often find it valuable to spend time in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
New Horizons Boys Ranch is a Christian residential school with a heart for character maturity and family unity. We provide services to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere where struggling adolescents adopt better life attitudes, flourish in their faith, find a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every boy begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and numerous other attractive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the child can work through the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. We also offer individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Residents at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key role in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration takes place only with the close involvement of parents. We ask parents to attend three family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. We support frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
NHBR is a Christ-centered youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life.
