Our school works hard to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Teens come to New Horizons Boys Ranch from around the country, including from West Valley City, Utah, and often find it valuable to experience a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a faith-based residential school focused on character growth and family unity. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like atmosphere where troubled adolescents develop constructive life attitudes, flourish in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. We offset hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our picturesque mountainous location is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each teen begins by establishing a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores contribute to a strong work ethic and countless other positive character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the child can tackle the conflicts that had held him or her back. We also use individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Students at New Horizons Boys Ranch are provided a fully accredited school that also consists of independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. We believe discipline plays a key part in any worthwhile education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the close involvement of parents. We request parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. We support frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a faith-based program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will benefit your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking outside of West Valley City, Utah to see how our caring program can lead to restoration in your family.
